2011 Derby Days events
Sept. 25 - Sunday: Sorority Banner Competition This year's theme for the banner competition is Derby Days by the Dock. Each sorority will create a banner that reflects the theme and judges will decide which banner wins. After judging, the banners will be hung in Clemson University's library for students to see. Sept. 26 - Monday: Derby Chase To start off the week we will hold the Derby Chase, in which brothers from the Eta Psi chapter don black hats in hopes of making their way unscathed all the way from the Botanical Gardens to the Bronze Tiger statue in front of Littlejohn Coliseum. Brothers have one hour to make the trek. Sorority girls who capture each brother earn a number of points for their sorority for each hat they obtain. The trek is so tough that only one brother has made it successfully in the past four years. Sept. 27 - Tuesday: Volleyball Tournament Join us for our volleyball tournament on the Fike volleyball courts. Sisters will play on 7-person teams for this double elimination tournament. Points will be awarded to the winning team. Sept. 28 - Wednesday: Karaoke Competition We hold our annual Karaoke competition at 356. Sororities compete by
choosing their most talented sisters to rock the mic on stage and belt
it out.
This event is always a favorite and brings out a huge crowd for a fun
night of
singing and cheering. Sept. 29 - Thursday: Luke Bryan concert The Eta Psi chapter is proud to announce that, along with Tiger Paw Productions, we will be hosting the outstanding country artist (and fellow Sigma Chi brother) Luke Bryan. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.at University Beach. Each year the chapter has highlighted an amazing Derby Days with a well-known artist at Clemson. Sept. 30 - Friday: Dance Competition After a long week of fun and competition, the final night of Derby Days is capped off by the Sorority Dance Competition. This year the event will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Outdoor Amphitheater on campus, located directly across from the Library Bridge. All sororities compete for the bragging rights to be the best dance crew and Derby Days dance competition winners.
