What is Derby Days? Derby Days is the Sigma Chi fraternity’s annual philanthropy effort. The Eta Psi chapter of Sigma Chi at Clemson University has been hosting Derby Days since 1979. Every year Sigma Chi teams up with sororities across Clemson’s campus for a week full of events to help raise money for our Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals local hospital, Children's Hospital of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS). Events such as karaoke, trivia, bowling, dance competitions, and banner competitions are just a few of the ways that Sigma Chi raises awareness and funds for the GHS Children's Hospital. This year's Derby Days will be held from Sept. 25-30. Where do the proceeds go? Your donations will go to support GHS Children's Hospital, which serves communities in upstate South Carolina, western North Carolina, and northeastern Georgia. Read more on our Who Benefits page here. What are the sorority’s roles for Derby Days? Twelve different sororities at Clemson University participate each year to help raise money for Derby Days. The sororities compete each year in the week-long series of events to win Derby Days and become Sigma Chi’s Derby Queen for the year. During each event, such as the Dance Competition, judges will award each sorority points based on their performance. Sororities also can gain points for the amount of donations they raise. At the end of the week, these points will be added up to determine the winner. Who can I contact if I have more questions?
